About Nigeria
Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation and its fourth-largest economy, sits at the heart of West Africa. Home to over 200 million people and more than 250 ethnic groups, Nigeria has a rich cultural heritage with three major ethnic groups namely; Hausa-Fulani, Yoruba, and Igbo.
Abundant in natural resources, especially oil and gas, Nigeria also thrives on agriculture, technology, and the creative economy. A Federal Republic with 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja – at the nation’s center. Nigeria’s name, coined by British journalist Flora Shaw in 1897, comes from the Niger River, which runs through the country.
With diverse landscapes ranging from northern savannas to southern rainforests and a tropical climate marked by wet and dry seasons, Nigeria is a land of dynamic contrasts, vibrant culture, and boundless potential.
